Material Traceability

Material traceability: it becomes important precisely when you need certainty

In steel processing and trading, attention often focuses on aspects that are visible and easy to verify:
dimensions, thicknesses, tolerances, delivery times, or the final appearance of the part.

However, industrial projects also involve a less visible but extremely important aspect: material traceability.

In most cases, the need for traceability arises precisely when clear and documented answers are required:

  • during an internal or external audit
  • in the event of a non-conformity
  • when a customer requests documentation for the material used
  • in projects requiring proof of the material’s origin and specifications
  • or when the batch from which a particular product originated must be identified quickly

In practice, traceability means the ability to identify and track the material throughout the entire process based on the associated documents and information.

This process may include:

  • quality certificates / 3.1 inspection certificates
  • identification of the material batch or heat number
  • correlation between the material received and the material delivered
  • delivery notes and invoices
  • material labels and markings
  • internal records of orders and processing operations

In certain industries and projects, traceability is not merely an advantage but an essential requirement for quality control and documentation compliance.

When information is well organized and can be verified quickly, less time is wasted searching for documents, and many unclear or costly situations can be avoided.

Trasabilitatea este unul dintre acele lucruri care nu se observă imediat într-o livrare.
Dar atunci când apare o întrebare importantă, diferența dintre „credem că este corect” și „putem demonstra clar” devine esențială.
